I grew up near Philadelphia (Bucks County), got my engineering degree
at Arizona State, and now Portland, Oregon is my home. I'm loving the
townhouse I bought in February 2004 in NE Portland.
Photography: I started taking photography seriously in 1993 when I got my first real 35mm camera. I got a Canon Elan IIe camera in 1998 before I went to Sweden. I "wet digital" in 2001 and have recently switched to a Canon Digital Rebel. Great camera. But, I still use my 35mm camera now and then. As an engineer, I admire well-designed man-made structures such as bridges and buildings, so I seem drawn to these as subjects of my photography. I love the beauty of a cityscape at night reflected in the water - the perfect meshing of man and nature.
Web Design: I've been doing web pages since 1995. My first was the Cinema 21 web site which I still maintain. I still maintain a number of sites, including The Bridges Of Portland, Oregon, The Portland Apartment Guide, The Movie Pundit, plus a few others. Movies: I love movies and even have my own movies web site! See MoviePundit.com for a list of films I've seen. My brush with celebrity: I met the man who won the popular vote in the 2000 Presidential Election - wanna see?. I volunteered for the Gore campaign that fall, and I got to meet him after driving a press van in his motorcade during a Portland campaign visit. Career news: Left my job at Intel in June, 2001 (separation package too sweet to pass up). Intel is a great "big company" to work in, but who needs the stress? Currently I'm, uh, retired. :-) I'm nurturing a new career in photography.
